Who is Five Star Mechanical?

In today’s technology driven world, we rarely get the chance to know the people we do business with. I want to take this opportunity to share with you who Five Star Mechanical is and what your business with us supports.

We are an HVAC service and construction company locally owned and operated by my family--The Wares: Gerald, Jeanne, Bud, John, and me Angela.

When we first started in 1999 my dad Gerald had over 25 years experience in the HVAC industry, we had a great team, and Dad was teaching us the business. Our goal was to build a company that gives back to our family, our employees’ families, and our community.  The idea was for us kids to take over the business in 10-15 years, but things don’t always work out as planned.

To our heartbreak God called Dad home Thanksgiving 2001. It’s hard enough to lose the greatest man you’ve ever known, but even harder to take over his business.

The odds were stacked against us, but by sticking together and through the support of family, friends, and you we’re still here. We got to work learning the business and our places in it. My friend Johnny Bianchi of B&G Machine (also family owned and operated) has been extremely supportive; he said you have to have a plan (we had one 10-15 years remember?) he also gave me the following quote for inspiration:

“How do you know which direction to travel if you don’t know where you plan to end up?” C.S. Lewis.

So we stuck to the plan of building a company that gives back and we wrote our mission:

1. In all things have Integrity and Equitability  (dealing fairly & equally with all concerned).
2. Provide professional services that are “a degree above” our customers expectations.
3. Maintain a positive and safe work environment for our employees and customers.
4. Provide innovative ways to educate our  employees and inform our customers.
5. Work with our neighbors for the well being  of our community and our environment.

Just like all businesses we’ve had our share of defeats and triumphs. Losing our founding President and Father is the most difficult thing we’ve been through. But by sticking to our values and having direction we have been able to move forward.

A man of integrity, John Collum, came on board as our Service Manger. He has been instrumental in developing our top notch service department and we’re thrilled to have him.

We’ve also been fortunate enough to start a sister company; Five Star Energy Solutions providing full facility energy solutions to save money and our environment.

Even though things don’t always work out as planned, they always seem to work out. Now that you have an idea of who Five Star Mechanical is I want to share with you what your business with us supports.

Having us maintain the efficiency of your HVAC system and/or upgrade your system to more efficient equipment supports a healthier environment for all of us. By supporting a locally owned and operated family business, you support our local and national economies.  

Additionally your business with us supports two cats, three single guys, five families, and one widow; who support our communities and economies...The cycle of Life, Business, Community.  Your association also gives us the opportunity to support our global community through various charities and businesses.

Here are just a few: The Boys and Girls Club of Federal Way, The Handicapped Sales Workshop, LaserMonks, and through World Vision—Matiya Atuhe of Uganda and Awuor Wendy of Kenya, it’s just a small monthly donation but it does wonders for these kids.
